Your most important resource
Aug 31, 2021Time – our most valuable resource. We only have so much of it. It's not infinite. What do you spend your time doing? Or, do you ever have time to kill?
The language we use around what we do with time is very interesting.
Do you procrastinate around the house on weekends "killing time"?
Or do you "spend time" doing things you'd rather not be doing?
How about reframing that? Rather than 'killing time' or 'spending time', what about you 'invest your time'?
And the beauty of that is, WE get to decide how to invest our time.
And on that note, I urge you to make time for your health. It will be your greatest reward throughout life. As we’re told, “If you have your health, then you have everything.”
Or, put another way, “Health equals wealth.”
When we invest time towards our health, that investment pays off tenfold. I love that I invest only a few hours a week exercising and preparing healthy meals. Yet I know that I'm reaping the benefits for years to come. I'm reducing the chances for chronic disease and illness for my future self. You've got to love that.
You see, most chronic illnesses are largely preventable through lifestyle choices. Things like regular exercise, a healthy diet and sleeping well. Avoiding stress, not smoking and avoiding too much alcohol are gamechangers too.
Give a little time to build and develop healthy habits, and you gain so much more.
Not having time is the poorest excuse for not taking care of ourselves.
If we get honest with ourselves, it’s not an issue of time but an issue of priority.
