Excuses? Look for Opportunities, Instead
Jul 19, 2023I have a friend who tells me that she would LOVE to start an online business, but she doesn’t have time because she has kids and works 3 days a week.
I recently spoke to another practitioner who’s “so, so busy” at work. And another therapist who’s “just too tired all the time after a long day in the clinic.” And yet, another who says "money is tight because patients cancel last minute more often than they used to".
These excuses are common – and frustrating to hear. I’ve had to accept the fact that there’s only so much I can do to encourage someone to stop using them. But, when they’re ready to make a change, here’s a tactic that works well.
I encourage them to think of these excuses as opportunities for improvement in their lives, rather than as insurmountable obstacles.
For example:
- Instead of using the kids as an excuse to not create an online program, try to see that they’re a huge reason to gain more time and financial freedom for yourself.
- Instead of feeling overwhelmed by your professional obligations, learn better time management techniques.
- And if you lack spare money at the moment, then you need to experience the financial boost you’ll gain from investing in yourself and creating a new way to help people AND make money, that isn't reliant on last minute cancellations.
If you take advantage of these “opportunities,” then you’ll gain time, financial and location freedom – and skills you can apply in other parts of your life, too.
If you really want to take the pressure off long term, AND gain freedom, you’ll do what’s necessary to build it.
If you don’t, you’ll keep making excuses.
The choice is yours.
And for when you are ready to make that choice...I show health, wellness and fitness business owners how to stop trading time for money by launching their own profitable online coaching program.
