Why you've quit when quitting sugar.

Jun 03, 2024

I've tried quitting sugar.

I'm sure you've tried quitting sugar.

Probably more than once.

This is because it's addictive, and it's sooooo hard to quite.

Which is probably why you've likely quit trying when trying to quit sugar!

I remember when Sarah Wilson's first book "I Quit Sugar' first came out. And at the same time I was also reading David Gillespie's Book 'Sweet Poison'.

Both of them pointed out the pitfalls of eating too much sugar.

➡️ Insulin resistance

➡️ Diabestes

➡️ Early Aging

➡️ Inflammation leading to a higher risk factor for chronic diseases like cancer, heart conditions and autoimmune disease.

➡️ Not to mention the tiredness, low energy and belly fat that is all too common too.

And I tried quitting sugar. It worked for a good few months.

But the cravings were intense!!!!!!

I tried replacing sugar in my cooking with rice malt syrup and dextrose, which have no fructose...which is the bad part of sugar, in terms of all the health conditions I just mentioned.

But the cravings were still there!

Eventually I carved out a good balance. I now use healthier, non processed sugars from honey, maple syrup and coconut sugar in my cooking. And I eat sugar with fiber - ie FRUIT, as this slows down the glucose spikes.

And I also eat the occasional good quality chocolate...with sugar in it. But I don't have it all the time, because I know how to eliminate sugar cravings...and this is what I want to share with you now too!

These are some of the exact strategies that i teach to my clients inside of my 12 week coaching program to help women over 35 lose weight and keep it off, finding their best health for life.

If you’re currently trying to quit sugar again, and again...and again, you’re costing yourself your best health and you're having to rely on willpower ALL the time, which is no fun. When you shift your approach to quitting cravings rather than quitting sugar, that's when you’ll lose that belly fat, get more energy and start to live your healthiest life for longer.

These are the things you need to do to eliminate your sugar cravings:

  1. Make sure you have enough protein for your age and stage.
  2. Make sure you have enough healthy fats.
  3. Make sure you eat the rainbow = all the coloured fruits and vegetables so you get a full range of vitamins and minerals in your nutrition.
