How much revenue you've earnt as a coach should NOT be an indicator of how successful you are.

I had a cup-of-herbal-tea meeting with a gorgeous new friend the other day. We connected after I reached out via a Facebook Group (there's the power of social media right there, but that's an email for another time!)

She is also an online coach, and one of the (many) things we talked about, was how so many online coaches share their revenue on their socials...As an indicator of their success....Me included at times too!

It doesn't tell us the bottom line.

Or the overall health of your business.

It's really a vanity metric.

Like how many followers you have on Instagram.

Or how many likes you got on a post.

It tells us your money IN.

But it doesn't tell us your money OUT

The money that you've had to spend in order to get that money in.

What we spoke about was that coaches should share their profit. THAT is an indicator of their success!

When I ran my clinic, it was a $1M+ annual business at one point. I could sit here and tell you I made $10M+ in my clinic. (Which I did over the 15 years of owning it).

That's a good vanity metric.

You would sit up and take notice of that!

I'm a 7 figure earner!!!! Look at me!

But if I shared my profit when I owned that business...well, that's a very different story.

To have a clinic of that size, serving so many clients, and having so many staff...the overheads were ridiculous. I was lucky to pay myself $80K most years. In a good year, I was able to pay myself $120K. Nothing to sneeze at, but not a huge amount for the crazy hours I used to put in.

Now...fast forward to where I'm at now.

I have a fully online business.

Yes, I've made $650K over two years....which is amazing. But I've done that with very low expenses.

I pay myself an annual wage of $156K. I've been able to invest over $100K in coaching! My wage allows me live my life, go shopping, have holidays, and do the things I love. It's not $10M, but it's way more than I was able to pay myself with a $1M dollar annual turnover business!

And the left over profits after my wage are more than that too! There is now always spare money in my business account. Sometimes more, sometimes less, but it's WAY healthier than when I had my clinic.
